About Us

start, run.

The Toronto-based band, Start Run Radio, is cooking up a stew of Funk, Jazz, and Soul, paying homage to masters such as Dr. Lonnie Smith and The Meters, while incorporating modern flavors reminiscent of New Orleans veterans Galactic and Stanton Moore.

Organist Alan Zemaitis convened guitarist Evan Desaulnier and drummer Josh Park in the same room, producing and instant connection. After several sessions where they explored beloved tunes and workshopped new original material, they realized their sound deserved to be shared with the public.

Couch vibe. Josh Park (drums), Alan Zemaitis (organ), & Evan Desaulnier (guitar)

Mi garage es tu garage. Trio with Bobby Shaw (sax).

A monthly gig provided the opportunity to incorporate Bobby Shaw’s saxophone into the mix, allowing them to further develop their chemistry and refine their material. Within a year, they recognized they had accumulated more than enough high-quality material to produce an album.

Their debut album, ‘Mirepoix’, was released in February 2024. Stay tuned for updates on new show listings and tour dates!
